Introducing the Vintage Motorcycle Show
Motorcycles tell stories.
Some changed the industry.
Some changed the culture.
And some simply changed a rider’s life.
This year, the Wharf Rat Rally is exploring something new — a Vintage Motorcycle Show, focused on motorcycles from 1940 through 1989 that helped shape the world of riding as we know it today.
But this won’t be a traditional bike show.
It’s being designed as a curated heritage display — one that highlights not just the machines themselves, but the innovation, craftsmanship, and moments that made them matter.
More Than Chrome and Spec Sheets
The Vintage Motorcycle Show is intended to spotlight motorcycles that:
- Represent turning points in design or performance
- Influenced rider culture
- Introduced meaningful engineering breakthroughs
- Or hold powerful personal stories
This is about impact — not trophies.
Each selected motorcycle will help tell a piece of the story of how motorcycling evolved between the post-war era and the late 1980s — from mechanical simplicity to modern performance.
A Thoughtful Addition to the Rally
For years, riders have told us they value the deep roots of motorcycle culture. The Vintage Motorcycle Show is a response to that sentiment, a way to celebrate the machines that built the community many of us ride in today.
If enough interest is shown, the exhibit will take shape as a carefully curated display during Rally weekend, offering a quieter, reflective daytime experience within the larger energy of the event.
Calling for Submissions
We are now inviting owners of motorcycles from 1940–1989 to submit their bikes for consideration.
This is a curated exhibit.
Submission does not guarantee selection.
The goal is to attract strong, authentic examples that best represent their era and help tell this story meaningfully.
