Canadian Army Veterans Motorcycle Unit Run to Afghanistan Memorial in Yarmouth
DATE & TIME:
Saturday, August 30 at 10:00am. Departure is at 11:00am
A group of dedicated students and parents of the Maple Grove and Yarmouth High Memorial Club toiled long and hard to raise enough funds to erect an Afghanistan Memorial in honour of the Canadians who died in Afghanistan.
The Canadian Army Veterans Motorcycle Unit (C.A.V.) invite all motorcyclists, military and otherwise, to join them in a fund raising run from Digby to Yarmouth via the French Shore to enjoy the area, celebrate and support the efforts of these exceptional young people and to honour the memories of our fallen soldiers. The route will take approximately one hour fifteen minutes (90 kms) and there is excellent parking at the site.
At the Memorial there will be a short Remembrance Service.
Following the Remembrance Service, all riders are invited to proceed into the lovely Town of Yarmouth and enjoy lunch along the beautiful waterfront or at one of the many restaurants in the area. Maps and directions will be provided.
There is no charge to join this Ride but we ask for your pre-registration so we can let the RCMP escort and the parking attendants in Hebron know how many bikes to expect. Please ensure that each person in your group registers individually whether a rider or a passenger. There also will be a container for donations to assist the Memorial Club in the upkeep of the tribute.
The CAV ride to the Afghanistan memorial from Conway, NS to Hebron, NS is an independent event organized wholly by the CAV. The Wharf Rat Rally© provides promotional support to this worthwhile project.
Riders are asked to be at the assembly point in front of Walmart before 11:00am. The ride will depart at 11:00am. Registration forms will also be available at the Assembly Point on Saturday, August 30 from 10:00am to 11:00am) before the ride. Look for the sign that says "On-site Registration” to sign your release waiver.
